What are we trying to solve?
The Indian government spends ~1 trillion USD (approximately 25% of GDP) on development projects every year. These projects are broadly aimed at improving the quality of services/opportunities available across three broad pillars: health, education and employment for all. The UN estimates that India must spend 10% of its GDP to achieve the SDG target. The Indian government currently overspends by 200% and yet, continues to rank poorly in all development indices. Hence, it is unsurprising that the inefficiency of the public service delivery system in India leads to “leaks” in the capital and slows developmental progress.
